This policy explains which cookies the Amarah website (useamarah.com) uses and how you can choose. Analytics cookies are only used if you accept them, and refusing is as easy as accepting. How the Amarah app and our services process your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work; others, like analytics cookies, are optional and need your consent.
2. The cookies we use
- NEXT_LOCALE (essential): remembers whether you chose French or English. Set by useamarah.com, deleted when you close your browser. It does not need consent because the site needs it to show you the language you chose.
- _ga and _ga_<ID> (analytics, only with your consent): Google Analytics cookies that count visits and show which pages are used, so we can improve the site. Set on useamarah.com by Google, kept for up to 13 months.
- Your cookie choice itself is stored in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) under the name amarah-consent, for up to 13 months. We then ask you again.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we have turned off Google's advertising and cross-device features (Google signals).
3. Google Analytics
If you accept analytics cookies, information about your visit (pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type) is sent to Google LLC, including to servers in the United States. Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address. We use these statistics only to understand how the site is used. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Your choices
- When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or reject analytics cookies with one click. If you reject them, or close the page without choosing, Google Analytics is not loaded.
- You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops immediately and its cookies are deleted from our site.
- You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking NEXT_LOCALE only means the site may not remember your language.
5. Legal basis and contact
We ask for your consent before using analytics cookies, as required by the data protection law of the country where you live, including Law No. 2024/017 of 23 December 2024 on personal data protection in Cameroon and, for visitors in the European Union, the ePrivacy rules and the GDPR.
For any question about cookies or your personal data, contact hello@useamarah.com.
